Posted by Dr nicknick on 09/12/2009 the basic plot of the board game was extended into a few really good computer game. in my opinion the best way to beat the game is to play the classic version and set the reinforcements from each continent at maximum (ten troops)then anything goes you do this I guarantee you will have either a larger army faster or you will be desimated by your opponent. I thought this would be a great gamble and i had a lot of fun using this strategy at one point i was backed into a corner hugging onto the autralia continent and three turns later I had a force of around 67 troops ready for combat, it was amazing! Posted by k on 04/07/2007 superb buy it now !! Posted by someone on 12/25/2006 I strongly reccomend buying this game. If you like risk, then buy it. The demo just isn't enough, I wanted more after I downloaded it. This game will also teach you how to play, if you havn't played the popular boardgame before.
Posted by Sam on 09/27/2009 I began playing Risk II last week. Two major points to take are Southern Europe and Scandanavia. My game starts out like this: Ukraine (provides a gigantic block to the East), Southern Europe, Scandanavia, Greenland. I place three battalions at major blocking points in Europe. At the end of the first round of play, no matter what generals I play against, Ill always own the entire European Theater. I have three in Greenland because America is my next target so Ill hug the coastline with 1 or 2. Always attack with one battalion versus one enemy battalion. The computer recognizes your aggressiveness and rewards you with successful takeovers. Taking over Europe supplies you with enough reinforcements to takeover North America and then South America. Sometimes Ill be left with one battalion in each sector but thats enough to provide me with a sufficient amount of troops to attack more and win more territories. Good Luck! Posted by Masterja on 12/31/2008 In begining of game, it is best to focus on Australia. It might sound crazy but it will help allot. Australia gets you 3 tanks per round (2 for entire continent and 1 for territory number) and plus is only defended from 1 side (new guinea). After Australia focus on North America. North America is easy to defend and gives 7 tanks per round (5 for continent and 2 for territory number). After that get South America (together with North America is defended from 3 sides (Alaska, Greenland and Brazil). If you get all three of these, you get 13 tanks per round and defense will be very easy with that tank number. Also dont attack those who have equal or higher number of troops on a territory than you. Have fun. Posted by Pistols327 on 06/28/2008 Ever heard the saying you cant win a land war in asia? WELL THEY ARE RIGHT. Why do i say this you ask? Because everyone wants to take australia because its the most easily defended. What do you do when you take australia? nothing because one you try to take asia in the beginning or middle youve lost. Play it safe and take south/north america Posted by jr30 on 10/29/2007 Over my years of playing Risk I have learned that usually whoever controls North America controls the game. You get a lot of reinforcements and get stronger and little by little you take over everything. Everytime I succeeded to control North America I have won the game. When I fail I get taken off the board. Just try to control the 3 sides, Greenland, Central America, and Alaska. The rest will be yours if you can defend. Posted by Faber on 04/22/2007 Hi, I have the board game and I have well mastered my-self in the game over the years. My friends always try to stop me from getting North-America, because its easy to defend from only 3 sides and you get alot of troops for it, and every time someone breaks in, just keep on hitting them back, and with every turn, put some investment at your e defence countries, i think its Alaska, central america and greenland. its easy then to take over South America, then Africa and then depending on the situation to either weakend your aponent in Europe or Asie, just push im back were all convics come from (Australie :-D ) by that time the game are yours. I like to let him survive a thew more rounds wile I make my troops super strong and then its the final attack on Aus. Njoy Posted by Someone on 12/25/2006 When I begin to select the territories that I want (not in randomly selected games, i try to go for either austrailia, or the bottom of southamerica and africa. Whenever I do this, I usually manage to use my troops to get australia, africa, or south America. This gives my a good start in the game by gaining at least one whole continent to myself, and therefore getting me more troops. This strategy works very well with 8 player same time games, but also works well with less players. Posted by yatoast on 11/15/2006 I find that focusing on two continents when selecting your countries at the beginning of the game seems to work out pretty well. Focusing on any more than that makes it easy for you to be taken out. This is just my experience.
Posted by on 11/12/2007 Losing a tournament game means that you lose the entire tournament and have to start over. But if you do this you can pick up where you left off:
Copy the tourn.cfg file in your Risk folder after you complete a game and paste it somewhere safe. It contains the current state of the tournament. If you lose the next game, simply replace the tourn.cfg file with the copy you made to get back to where you were before.
