Posted by Brian on 01/14/2010 AWESOME game. Bad reviewers may be puzzle challenged but it was easy and only lost two lives completing it. Still trying to figure out how to get to the next epoch but its a challenge, addictive and fun! Posted by game player on 05/31/2008 Very frustrating when one gets to the level of Senator as not enough time is given to win. Also many levels only allow 2 lives to make a win or are sent back to beginning. Posted by Big Papa on 10/29/2007 Bought this game when it first came out and I still play over and over again. Have reached Mount Olympus many times and now the challenge is to get there with as many lives as possible the family record is my daughter who has finished with 27 lives. Posted by Mindy on 09/19/2007 This is an awesome game! The whole family loves it! From my father, my husband, to my children who are only 5 & 7 yrs. old Posted by Charles on 07/06/2007 If you could buy only one game this is the one to buy. Posted by Tina on 05/23/2007 I loved this game, I love a good challenge; I got the game and couldnt seem to stop, earning more men as you go, and building an empire was great. I beat all 100 levels and even though it got harder as I went it was still worth the challenge. Good Luck Everyone. Posted by jax max on 04/13/2007 what a colossal waste of time this game is!!!!! you get three lives to build an empire. if you gone seven levels for example, and have built many buildings, you lose it all and have to start all over again. don't waste your time or money Posted by Lisa on 04/11/2007 Love the game, but man the further you get the tougher it gets, wish I had some cheats, I am on level 62.
Posted by Rose on 11/09/2008 Some tips on how to get the Miller:
I find levels that are with a lot of double-clearing squares (squares that you need to break twice to clear) are very effective to get the Miller guy.
Since “effective moves means that you have to break a brick… so, to get the miller, you need to make 15 moves that break at least one brick per move”, at those levels you just need to clear the bricks fast and the double-clearing makes the “effective” requirement very easy to meet. Try it on level 10 - I can consistently get the Miller guy as early as this level. Posted by Rizzolo on 06/16/2008 On case of Deadlock, where there are no possible moves, the game removes some pieces itself until there is at least one possible move Posted by Rizzolo on 05/21/2008 This is how Awem (developer of game) explained how to get the Miller:
You’ll get a miller as soon as you make 15 effective moves one by one for the very short period of time. So, all that you must learn to do is to move items quicker and more effectively Posted by Big Papa on 10/29/2007 If your having trouble getting the priest simply finish most of the board, quit and then continue game. You`ll start with a new clock and finish in less than 3 minutes. Posted by Zacx on 05/29/2007 In the Save directory is a file called name.xml in which name is replaced by the name you are playing. Back this file up before doing this. Edit the file with Notepad. Find "ResBonus type" Change the min_amounts to 200 and each of the bonuses you change will automatically refill after being used. If the bonus type is active in your level, the min_amount will get reset so you will have to do this editing more than once. The bonuses are 10=hour glass, 11=bomb, 12=mixer, 13=lightning, 14=shield, 15=star, 16=hatchet and 17=Plus. You can also add lines for bonuses you dont have. This makes it easy to finish the game. Not satisfying, but easy. Be sure to be at the main menu before doing this editing. Posted by Jenny on 05/06/2007 If you are trying to get a bonus that needs you to complete a level quickly, but can't seem to finish fast enough, play until you only have one match left and then leave the game to the main menu. When you return to the game, all you have left is that one match, and the game only counts the time since you've returned. Therefore, you can complete the level in around 3 seconds or so. Posted by JYRY on 04/16/2007 In directory where is game installed edit file Profiles.xml. Previously backup this file to be sure if something will not go properly. In this file you can edit points, level, number of lives etc. Posted by David on 04/12/2007 #
Sometimes tips are not enough. In those cases, tricks come into play. Here are a few to employ if you "really" need to cheat a bit. In the Cradle of Rome directory you'll find a file named Profiles.xml that you can edit. Make a copy of it before making any changes so you have a backup. Now, open Profiles.xml with Notepad. Find the line near the top where it says where "NAME" equals your user name ("<" and ">" begin and end each line of code). On the second line below this make the following changes. Please note that I'm using -- and -- to set off the text to be changed.
# The text -- Last life="X" -- ("X" equals the current number of extra lives) can be changed to increase or decrease your available lives. Want 10 extra lives? Change it to read -- Last life="10" -- to make the increase.
# The text -- level="XX" -- ("XX" equals the level you previously completed) can be changed to get past a particularly difficult level. So, if level 61 is giving you fits, change the text to read -- level="61" -- and when you restart the game, you'll be on level 62.
